"Praise waiteth for Thee, O God... Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, Thou shalt purge them away" (Psalm 65:1,3). "Be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:17,18). "Therefore will the LORD wait, that He may be gracious unto you" (Isaiah 30:18). "Therefore... be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord... your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).
How
wondrous is the expectation
Of
praise that waits on judgment day
To
Christ who purchased our salvation
And
thereby purged our sins away!
Though
even now iniquities
At
times will taunt us and prevail,
We
find our cleansing on our knees
And
grace from God that does not fail.
Let
praise prevail all day long
In
holiness by godly fear.
Our
expectation is not wrong;
Our
Lord's return is drawing near.
The
reason that our Lord now waits
To
visit sinners with His wrath
Is
that He yet anticipates
That
some will find salvation's path.
So
let us, therefore, steadfast be
Unmovable
as we abound
In
labor for eternity
That
sinners lost may yet be found.
O
Lord of our prevailing praise,
You
made Your love for us so plain,
So
may we love You all our days
With
labor that is not in vain.
