"O LORD, have we waited for Thee; the desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remembrance of Thee" (Isaiah 26:8). "The Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread: And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me. After the same manner also He took the cup... saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me" (1 Corinthians 11:23-25).
We waited for the Lord our Savior,
For no one else could rescue us.
He gave Himself to grant us favor;
His love is surely marvelous!
The
longing of our soul's desire
Is
resting now on Jesus Christ.
Remembrance
of Him burns like fire
When
we recall Him sacrificed.
The
night when Jesus was betrayed,
He
offered thanks and broke the bread.
His
body thereby was portrayed
To
oft remember Him, He said.
He
likewise took the cup as well
To
represent His blood by wine
By
which He ransomed us from hell
And
saved us with His grace divine.
O
Lord, we're resting in Your love
And
our remembrance of Your name,
The
Fount of blessing from above
And
our Redeemer we proclaim!
