"Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?" (Proverbs 20:24). "Lord, teach us to pray... And He said unto them, When ye pray... Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you... If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?" (Luke 11:1,9-13).
God
knows the path that He has planned
For
all His children every day.
By
trusting Him, we understand
That
He directs us in His way.
God
hears our prayers; be sure of this,
Yet
be aware that when we plead,
It's
possible to ask amiss;
The
Lord knows what we really need.
If
we would hear our child ask
For
just an egg, what would we do?
Would
not we gladly meet that task
Providing
breakfast with it too?
Our
Lord provides this illustration,
And
thereby clearly makes the case
That
He who planned for our salvation
Will
yet provide with perfect grace.
The
Lord knows we need daily bread,
Yet
surely more, and we should hear it,
Regarding
what our Lord has said
About
our needs met by His Spirit.
O
Lord, the needs are very great
Which
You have heard in each petition,
And
yet the prayer that cannot wait
Regards
the sinner's lost condition!
The
greatest gift, Lord, You could give,
Required
heaven's highest price.
You
gave Your life that we might live
When
You became our Sacrifice!
O
Lord, we lift to You our prayer
To
thank You that You paid the cost
For
all Your good gifts we declare
Within
the Gospel to the lost!
