The time had come to seek a wife
For Isaac, son of Abraham. Behold this portrait of the life
And marriage supper of the Lamb.
A portrait also of God’s Spirit
Is in this servant who was sent Who woos with truth the souls who hear it
And humbly thereby will repent.
The bride of Christ today is wooed
As God is saving sinful men.The Holy Spirit has pursued
With wisdom those now born again.
The question comes to each of us
As to Rebekah in her day: The choice God gives is glorious,
Yet who will go and who will stay?
There is but one response that’s wise
In view of all our Lord will show: With joyful hearts and open eyes,
It is to say that “I will go!”
We speak of what our Lord has done,
Fulfilling what the prophets said. A bride is sought for God the Son
Who rose, as promised, from the dead.
There’s no one like our wondrous Lord,
The Lamb of God, yet our Creator! How rightly He should be adored!
Behold His love: there is none greater!
With wisdom we are called to speak
Of Christ to all who need the Savior So they may also wisely seek
Our gracious Lord and find His favor.
We know, Lord Jesus, that You died
To save us from eternal doom That we, with joy, may be Your bride,
And You may justly be our Groom.
We thank You, Lord, that we are blest
With riches poured from heaven’s place! Now in Your wisdom we find rest
And woo the souls You save by grace.
