Confident in the Covenant

"He hath remembered His covenant forever.... which covenant He made with Abraham" (Psalm 105:8,9). "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.... He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and be fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform" (Romans 4:3,20,21).

The covenant which God had made
With Abraham, whom He would bless,
Was all God needed to persuade
And reckon to him righteousness.

Behold the record that God gave
Of saving faith in Abraham,
Who trusted in the Lord to save,
And by his Seed, provide a Lamb.

He staggered not at what God said,
But rather he was confident
That God could even raise the dead
To thus fulfill His covenant.

O Lord, we thank You that we too
Can rest our faith with confidence,
Assured Your promises are true,
Persuaded by Your evidence.
