"Into Thine hand I commit My spirit.... for Thou hast considered My trouble; Thou hast known My soul in adversities" (Psalm 31:5-7). "Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? Behold, and see if there be any sorrow, which is done unto Me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted Me in the day of His fierce anger" (Lamentation 1:12).
That final saying by God's Son
That followed sorrow so supreme,
Was uttered when His work was done
To ransom those He would redeem.
Multitudes are passing by,
Indifferent to His agony,
Never even asking why
He gave Himself at Calvary.
O Man of sorrows and of grief,
It was our burden that You bore!
How many by their unbelief
Increase Your sorrow even more!
O Lord, to what can we compare
The sorrow that Your soul endured?
Ah this! The measure of Your care
That made You die for those You cured!
