"My son, give Me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe My ways" (Proverbs 23:26). "Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:24-26).
There is a truth that's clearly sliced
With heaven's sharpened knife:
We either give our heart to Christ
Or we will lose our life.
Our life is more than things we hold
That perish with the earth.
For what exchange shall it be sold?
And what is our soul worth?
No wonder God our Father pleads:
"My son, give Me thine heart!"
For thus He meets our deepest needs,
And we from sin depart.
We thank You, Lord, for liberty
And life that shall be found,
As we surrender and are free
Through grace that shall abound.
