Gospel Garments

Read:  Psalm 126 / Proverbs 19 / Exodus 28 / Romans 8

Psalm 126:5,6 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves.

Proverbs 19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Exodus 28:40 And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make coats…  for glory and for beauty.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

We sow in tears that we may reach

The precious souls who need our Savior.

The Lord has sent us forth to preach

The Gospel of His saving favor.

As Aaron’s sons were clothed with beauty,

We wear the garments of salvation

To serve our Lord with joyful duty,

With gratitude, and adoration.

Delivered from Death

Read:  Psalm 125 / Proverbs 18 / Exodus 27 / Romans 7

Psalm 125:1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.

Proverbs 18:24 There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Exodus 27:20 Bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

Romans 7:24,25 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Apart from Christ, who could I trust

To guide and guard me as my Savior?

In view of who He is, I must

Rely on Him for saving favor!

The Lord delivered me from death,

And I will love Him in this light

As long as He shall give me breath

With all my heart, my soul, and might.

Exhibiting our Escape

Read:  Psalm 124 / Proverbs 17 / Exodus 26 / Romans 6

Psalm 124:2,5,7 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us… then the proud waters had gone over our soul… Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare… The snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Exodus 26:34 And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place.

Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Salvation has an exhibition:

It’s like a snare that caught a bird

Which has escaped from her perdition;

Such is God’s liberating Word!

If it had NOT been for the Lord

Who died to rescue us with grace,

No other effort could afford

The refuge of His hiding place.

He gave Himself

Read:  Psalm 123 / Proverbs 16 / Exodus 25 / Romans 5

Psalm 123:1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Proverbs 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Exodus 25:2 Bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

I lift my eyes to Christ my Lord,

For every other hope shall cease.

For me His soul has been outpoured.

By grace and truth, He purchased peace.

I’ll serve my Savior willingly

Who heard and saved me when I cried.

He gave Himself to ransom me.

What wondrous love!  For me He died!

Prophetic Plan

Read:  Psalm 122 / Proverbs 15 / Exodus 24 / Romans 4

Psalm 122:2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

Proverbs 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Exodus 24:18 Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount… forty days and forty nights.

Romans 4:20-21 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

The day shall come when we shall stand

Within Jerusalem one day,

For this is what the Lord has planned,

And God shall surely have His way.

Prophetic patterns that God gave

Showed judgment, yet salvation too,

Portraying how He planned to save

Our souls by what the Lamb would do.

Jesus our Justifier

Read:  Psalm 121 / Proverbs 14 / Exodus 23 / Romans 3

Psalm 121:5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Exodus 23:14 Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year.

Romans 3:23-26 All have sinned... justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus… that he might be just, and the Justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

The presence of our risen Savior

Confirms that He is near at hand.

Our confidence in Jesus’ favor

Still grows the more we understand.

The feasts days show us Christ’s desire

In His redemption and return,

For He became our Justifier

Who paid for what we could not earn.

Rescued and Ransomed

Read:  Psalm 120 / Proverbs 13 / Exodus 22 / Romans 2

Psalm 120:1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

Proverbs 13:8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

Exodus 22:31 And ye shall be holy men unto me.

Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

In my distress, God heard my prayer.

He rescued me when I was lost.

I am amazed that He would care

So much He’d pay so great a cost!

He gave Himself to ransom me

And likewise cares for every soul,

For there’s no partiality

With Christ who died to make us whole.

Understanding, Unashamed

Read:  Psalm 119:169-176 / Proverbs 12 / Exodus 21 / Romans 1

Psalm 119:169,170 Give me understanding according to thy word… deliver me according to thy word.

Proverbs 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Exodus 21:1 Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

Romans 1:14-16 I am debtor… I am ready… I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.

According to the Word of God,

We’re understanding what is true.

The counsels of the lost are flawed,

And truth is hidden from their view.

The truth is found in Christ’s salvation,

Which in the Gospel is proclaimed,

That rescues us from condemnation.

Let us declare it unashamed!

Christ our Confidence

Read:  Psalm 119:161-168 / Proverbs 11 / Exodus 20 / Acts 28

Psalm 119:162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Exodus 20:22 And the LORD said… to the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

Acts 28:30,31 Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

We see the spoil that was won

For which our God and Savior fought.

We boast in what our Lord has done;

Salvation by His blood was bought!

Christ Jesus from His throne has spoken;

The Lord has come to our defense.

The prison bars of sin are broken;

Declare the news with confidence!

Privilege and Pleasure

Read:  Psalm 119:153-160 / Proverbs 10 / Exodus 19 / Acts 27

Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.

Proverbs 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Exodus 19:5,6 If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people… a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.

Acts 27:25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

The Word of God from the beginning

Is true for all eternity.

It holds the Gospel that is winning

The souls our Lord is making free.

The truth has made us free indeed!

The Lord entrusts to us this treasure

Which we convey to souls in need;

This is our privilege and our pleasure.

Christ or Condemnation

Read:  Psalm 119:145-152 / Proverbs 9 / Exodus 18 / Acts 26

Psalm 119:150,151 They draw nigh… far from thy law. Thou art near, O LORD, and all thy commandments are truth.

Proverbs 9:12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

Exodus 18:9 Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel… out of the hand of the Egyptians.

Acts 26:18 Open their eyes, and… turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Though evil men are drawing near,

The Lord is surely near as well.

There is no cause for us to fear,

For Christ delivered us from hell.

We preach the Word so eyes may see

The one escape from condemnation

Is found in Christ, that souls may flee

And turn to Him for their salvation.

Proven Proclamation

Read:  Psalm 119:137-144 / Proverbs 8 / Exodus 17 / Acts 25

Psalm 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Proverbs 8:6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.

Acts 25:7 The Jews… stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

The truth is proven; God has spoken.

His Gospel is our proclamation.

The Scriptures never have been broken

Which have foretold His great salvation.

The rock which was by Moses smitten

Foreshadowed Christ, who for us died.

His prophecies were clearly written

And, by fulfillment, verified.

Wonderful Words

Read:  Psalm 119:129-136 / Proverbs 7 / Exodus 16 / Acts 24

Psalm 119:129 Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.

Proverbs 7:1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

Exodus 16:15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna… And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

Acts 24:25 As he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when… a convenient season, I will call for thee.

The words of God are wonderful,

Which we are wise to hear and heed.

As daily manna for our soul,

His bread from heaven meets our need.

The words of reason that God gave

Declare the Gospel of salvation

To bring persuasion that will save

Eternal souls from condemnation.

Time to Testify

Read:  Psalm 119:121-128 / Proverbs 6 / Exodus 15 / Acts 23

Psalm 119:126,128 It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law… Therefore, I esteem all thy precepts… to be right; and I hate every false way.

Proverbs 6:3-5 Do this now… Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter… as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God… and I will exalt him.

Acts 23:11 And the night following, the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

It’s time for us to hear and heed

What God commands us now to do.

There is the clear and present need

To demonstrate His Word is true.

Our strength, our song, and our salvation

Are found in Jesus Christ alone.

The Gospel is our proclamation

To testify and make Him known.

Arise with Adoration

Read:  Psalm 119:113-120 / Proverbs 5 / Exodus 14 / Acts 22

Psalm 119:119 Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore, I love thy testimonies.

Proverbs 5:7-9 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth... lest thou give thine honor unto others, and thy years unto the cruel.

Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

As in the flame that purges dross,

I would have perished, but for grace!

For me my Lord went to the cross

To thus become my Hiding Place!

Stand still and see His great salvation!

Arise, my soul, no longer wait

To meet your Lord with adoration

And gratitude for love so great!

The Light That Leads

Read:  Psalm 119:105-112 / Proverbs 4 / Exodus 13 / Acts 21

Psalm 119:105,112 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path… I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end.

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Exodus 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.

Acts 21:13,14 Then Paul answered… I am ready… to die… for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

The Word of God instructs behavior

And leads me with an inclination

To follow Jesus Christ my Savior

Who rescued me with His salvation.

A cloud by day, a flame by night,

Once led God’s people in His way.

The will of Christ shall be my light

Which He inclines me to obey.

Wiser to Worship

Read:  Psalm 119:97-104 / Proverbs 3 / Exodus 12 / Acts 20

Psalm 119:98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

Proverbs 3:34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Exodus 12:27 It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S Passover, who… smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshiped.

Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

It’s wiser to worship our Lord

Than stand with His foes who are scorning.

It’s wiser to seek His reward

Than foolishly heed not His warning.

It’s wiser to worship our Savior,

Our Passover Lamb sacrificed,

Than shun His unspeakable favor,

Rejecting the ransom of Christ.

Separation from Salvation

Read:  Psalm 119:89-96 / Proverbs 2 / Exodus 11 / Acts 19

Psalm 119:94 I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.

Proverbs 2:3-5 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge… If thou seekest her as silver… Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Exodus 11:7 That ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

Acts 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

The Lord has saved us; we are His.

We know the truth in all He said.

His Word declares what was, what is,

And what shall be in days ahead.

There is a wall of separation

Between the ransomed and the lost.

How far removed from God’s salvation

Are those indifferent to its cost!

Lovingkindness of our Lord

Read:  Psalm 119:81-88 / Proverbs 1 / Exodus 10 / Acts 18

Psalm 119:88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

Proverbs 1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Exodus 10:2 Tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done… that ye may know how that I am the LORD.

Acts 18:9-10 Then spake the Lord to Paul… Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: for I am with thee.

The lovingkindness of our Lord

Embraces us with saving grace

And tender mercies that afford

An everlasting hiding place.

Declare it to the generation

That needs to know about our Savior!

He gave Himself for our salvation;

What wondrous love extends His favor!
