Save Some

Read:  Psalm 150 / Proverbs 7 / Jer. 51 /1 Cor. 9

Psalm 150:2 ~ Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Proverbs 7:1,3 ~ My son, keep my words… write them upon the table of thine heart.

Jeremiah 51:10,15 ~ The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness… let us declare… He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

1 Corinthians 9:22,23 ~ I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Praise God for all His mighty acts

Fulfilled according to His Word.

Let us declare the proven facts

In all His works that have occurred.

The time to speak has surely come,

And silence is a great mistake.

By all means now let us save some

For Christ and for the Gospel’s sake.

His Pleasure and His Pleading

Read:  Psalm 149 / Proverbs 6 / Jer. 50 /1 Cor. 8

Psalm 149:4 ~ For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Proverbs 6:20-22 ~ My son, keep thy father's commandment…  When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

Jeremiah 50:34 ~ Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause.

1 Corinthians 8:3 ~ But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

The Lord takes pleasure in His own

Whom He has saved and beautified.

He tells us we are not alone,

For He will never leave our side.

Our great Redeemer pleads our case

And intercedes for us above,

Upholding us with saving grace

And with His everlasting love.

Fleeting Fashion

Read:  Psalm 148 / Proverbs 5 / Jer. 49 /1 Cor. 7

Psalm 148:13 ~ Praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

Proverbs 5:9 ~ Lest thou give thine honor unto others, and thy years unto the cruel.

Jeremiah 49:16 ~ Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart… I will bring thee down…saith the LORD.

1 Corinthians 7:29-31 ~ But this I say, brethren, the time is short… Use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

Let us proclaim our Savior’s praise

And preach the Word of His report

As we are mindful that our days

On earth are numbered and are short.

Though many are deceived by pride

As they reject the Lord’s compassion,

They shall regret that they relied

Upon this world’s fleeting fashion.

Statement by the Stars

Read:  Psalm 147 / Proverbs 4 / Jer. 48 /1 Cor. 6

Psalm 147:4 ~ He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

Psalm 19:1-4 ~ The heavens declare the glory of God… Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

Daniel 12:3 ~ And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Proverbs 4:18 ~ But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Jeremiah 48:42 ~ And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.

1 Corinthians 6:20 ~ For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The God who numbers every star

Has also given them their names

With words declaring, near and far,

The Gospel statement He proclaims.

So, like the stars that spread His Word,

Let us proclaim His sacrifice,

For our salvation is assured

Since we are purchased with a price.

Refuge Restored

Read:  Psalm 123 / Proverbs 3 / 1 Samuel 10 / Mark 5

Psalm 123:1,4 ~ Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens… Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning… and with the contempt of the proud.

Proverbs 3:7 ~ Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

1 Samuel 10:9 ~ And it was so… God gave him another heart.

Mark 5:15 ~ See him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind.

Amid such contemptible hate,

My Savior was scorned and was killed.

His love, nonetheless, was so great,

With which He was wondrously filled.

I lift up my eyes to my Savior,

So loving, so faithful, so kind!

My refuge is found in His favor,

Restoring my heart, soul, and mind.

Standard of the Steward

Read:  Psalm 145 / Proverbs 2 / Jer. 46 /1 Cor. 4

Psalm 145:19 ~ He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

Proverbs 2:4,5 ~ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Jeremiah 46:15 ~ Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.

1 Corinthians 4:2-4 ~ It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful… I judge not mine own self… He that judgeth me is the Lord.

The Lord fulfills the deep desire

Of those who fear Him as they should.

We’re called to lift our standard higher

Than those who boast that they are good.

Let not the steward boast with pride,

For arrogance shall be abhorred.

We cannot be self-justified,

For He who judges is the Lord.

How Great is His Grace

Read:  Psalm 144 / Proverbs 1 / Jer. 45 /1 Cor. 3

Psalm 144:15 ~ Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

Proverbs 1:33 ~ But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Jeremiah 45:5 ~ And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

1 Corinthians 3:19,20 ~ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

How great indeed is saving grace

That rescues those who trust our Lord!

They find in Him their Hiding Place

And treasures yet to be explored.

The things this world has esteemed

Are void of any lasting gain.

Our prize is that we are redeemed;

All other hope is surely vain.

The Spirit and The Scriptures

Read:  Psalm 143 / Proverbs 31 / Jer. 44 /1 Cor. 2

Psalm 143:10 ~ Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

Proverbs 31:3 ~ Give not thy strength… nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

Jeremiah 44:16 ~ As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

1 Corinthians 2:12 ~ Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

The Spirit of our God is good

Who teaches us to do His will

And trust the Scriptures, as we should,

That God has promised to fulfill.

The Scriptures never have been broken,

Which enemies of God have scorned.

The Spirit of the Lord has spoken;

The foes of God have been forewarned.

Refuge Revealed

Read:  Psalm 142 / Proverbs 30 / Jer. 43 /1 Cor. 1

Psalm 142:5 ~ I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Proverbs 30:5 ~ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Jeremiah 43:2 ~ Then spake… all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely.

1 Corinthians 1:23 ~ But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness.

There is a refuge in this land

That God has in His Word revealed.

The counsel of the Lord shall stand;

The Lord shall be our Strength and Shield.

We hear the voices of the proud

Reject the truth they have denied,

Yet we are graciously allowed

To preach Christ Jesus crucified.

Clarifying Counsel

Read:  Psalm 141 / Proverbs 29 / Jer. 42 / Romans 16

Psalm 141:8 ~ But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

Proverbs 29:18 ~ Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Jeremiah 42:3 ~ That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.

Romans 16:25-27 ~ Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel… by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God… to God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

My eyes are lifted to the Lord

When I am facing a decision.

When all my options are explored,

His counsel clarifies my vision.

The Lord will lead me in His way

And show me what I ought to do.

I hear His counsel every day,

For every word of God is true.

Savior in the Scriptures

Read:  Psalm 140 / Proverbs 28 / Jer. 41 / Romans 15

Psalm 140:7 ~ O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Proverbs 28:1 ~ The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Jeremiah 41:13 ~ Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan [Heb. Jehovah’s Favor] and all the captains of the forces… were glad.

Romans 15:4 ~ For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

The Lord, the Strength of our salvation,

Is our triumphant, risen Savior.

His Gospel is our proclamation:

In Christ alone is saving favor.

The Scriptures that before were written

Have been fulfilled by Jesus Christ:

The Lamb of God for us was smitten,

And He for us was sacrificed.

Correction by Christ

Read:  Psalm 139 / Proverbs 27 / Jer. 40 / Romans 14

Psalm 139:23,24 ~ Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Proverbs 27:1,11 ~ Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth…make my heart glad.

Jeremiah 40:3 ~ Because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice… this thing is come upon you.

Romans 14:11,12 ~ It is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

May Christ my Savior search my heart

And lead me in His perfect way

With wisdom that He will impart

To know His will and to obey.

If I have not obeyed His voice,

I need His wise correction now

To love and serve my Lord by choice,

For one day every knee shall bow.

Awake vs. Astray

Read:  Psalm 138 / Proverbs 26 / Jer. 39 / Romans 13

Psalm 138:7 ~ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Proverbs 26:13 ~ The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

Jeremiah 39:6,7 ~ Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah. Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

Romans 13:11 ~ Now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Though there is trouble in our midst,

We trust our Savior’s mighty hand.

The lion roars that we resist,

Yet we are led by Christ’s command.

Though many make the great mistake

Of those who go astray like sheep,

Our Shepherd calls us to awake,

For this is not the time to sleep!

Perspective of the Perfect

Read:  Psalm 137 / Proverbs 25 / Jer. 38 / Romans 12

Psalm 137:4 ~ How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land?

Proverbs 25:13,25 ~ A faithful messenger… refresheth the soul of his masters… As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Jeremiah 38:20 ~ Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the LORD… so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live.

Romans 12:2 ~ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

When men declare that right is wrong

And sinners mock our precious Lord,

How shall we sing salvation’s song

Where heaven’s Gospel is ignored?

The answer is to look ahead

With true perspective God will give

To view our home above instead

With perfect joy where we shall live.
