"Thou, O LORD, art a Shield for me; my Glory, and the Lifter up of mine head… Salvation belongeth unto the LORD" (Psalm 3:3,8). "Certain Greeks… came up to worship… saying, Sir, we would see Jesus… Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of Man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit… And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me" (John 12:20-32).
The
Lord has been for us a Shield;
He
is our Glory and Salvation,
The
First Fruit of the harvest field
Who
rescued us from condemnation.
We
echo what those Greeks once said:
"We
would see Jesus!", nothing more.
He
is the Lifter of our head,
The
One whom we alone adore.
The
time had come for Jesus then
Wherein
He would be glorified;
A
Corn of Wheat bears much fruit when
That
Seed is planted and has died.
O
Lord, this portrait that You gave
Displays
Your triumph in the strife:
You
are the Seed who died to save
The
souls who gain eternal life!
