Storied Stars

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.  He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names.  Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite” (Psalm 147:3-5).  “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). 

He heals the broken in heart,

And thus we are thoroughly healed. 

He searches our most inward part;

There’s nothing to Him unrevealed.

For He who has numbered each star

And called every star by its name,

Reveals how precious we are

And how He redeems us from shame.

Is not this the message we read

Declaring God’s glory above?

Behold VIRGO there with her SEED,

Proclaiming God’s message of love!

Behold now ORION as well,

Translated, “He comes forth as Light.”

The stars thus continue to tell

The glory of God every night!

The Scriptures expand on that story

That God told to Adam and Eve;

In Christ He unveils His glory

To all who repent and believe.

Now just as the wise men who saw

The star that would give them direction,

We follow and worship with awe

In view of our Savior’s perfection!

For we who were sinners once cursed,

Were drawn by God’s Spirit to seek

His kingdom and righteousness first,

To know Him of whom the stars speak.

O Lord, we now greatly rejoice

In mercies that You have made known!

The stars that You named lend their voice,

Proclaiming Your glory alone!
