“Arise, O LORD, into Thy rest…. This is My rest forever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it” (Psalm 132:8,14). “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might…. The LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself” (Deuteronomy 6:5, 7:6). “Jesus… came to Bethany…. There they made Him a supper, and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with Him. Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment…. Then said Jesus… against the day of My burying hath she kept this” (John 12:1-7).
Arise,
O Lord, into Your rest,
And
rule our heart, our soul, and might.
O
come, Lord, as our greatest Guest,
And
fill each chamber with Your light!
We
stand amazed, Lord Jesus Christ,
As
You have shown us Your desire,
So
great that You were sacrificed
To
rescue us from judgment’s fire!
In
Bethany they welcomed You,
And
O, the fellowship was sweet
With
Lazarus and Martha too,
As
Mary worshipped at Your feet.
Lord,
as the odor filled each room
Of
Mary’s ointment that was poured
In
preparation for Your tomb,
Receive
our worship likewise, Lord.
Arise,
Lord, to Your rightful place,
Enthroned
within each heart and soul!
You
came to be our Guest with grace,
And
thereby You have made us whole!
