“O
LORD, Thou hast searched me, and known me…. I will praise Thee, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvelous are Thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well…. How
precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God!” (Psalm 139:1,14,17). “When Jesus therefore had received the
vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He
bowed His head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30).
How
fearfully God has designed and created
Our
body, our soul, and our spirit,
Yet
there was a finishing work that awaited,
Which
humbles us as we draw near it.
For
though we are sure that we’re fearfully made,
As
every soul knows very well,
Our
awe turns to horror, and all our hopes fade
As
sinners yet fitted for hell.
The
Lord God has searched us; He knows every thought.
He
hears every word yet unspoken.
The
Lord God is holy; we surely are not:
There’s
judgment for laws we have broken!
But
God, yet in righteousness never diminished,
Has
called us to be justified
Through
Christ who declared on the cross: “It is finished!”
Removing
our sins when He died!
How
precious indeed, Lord, Your thoughts are to us,
Declaring
Your justification!
How
fearfully finished, and how marvelous
Your
work is that grants us salvation!
