Wasted Words

Read:  Psalm 12 / Proverbs 18 / Isaiah 22 /John 11

Psalm 12:6,7 ~ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.

Proverbs 18:9 ~ He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Isaiah 22:1 ~ The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

John 11:9,10 ~ Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

The words of God that we have tasted

Are purified, preserved, and clear,

But they are treasures that are wasted

If we don’t heed the truth we hear.

The burden of the valley’s vision

Should stir our hearts with motivation

To plead with souls for a decision

To trust the Lord of our salvation.

Foolish Fear

Read:  Psalm 11 / Proverbs 17 / Isaiah 21 /John 10

Psalm 11:1 ~ In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

Proverbs 17:17 ~ A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Isaiah 21:10 ~ That which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

John 10:27,28 ~ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

There is a foolish voice I hear

That calls me as a bird to flee.

I trust the Lord.  Why should I fear?

The Lord is watching over me.

Let sinners rather run to hide

And find in Christ a Hiding Place!

How foolish is the rebel’s pride

That blinds him to his need of grace!

Seek and See

Read:  Psalm 10 / Proverbs 16 / Isaiah 20 /John 9

Psalm 10:17 ~ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear.

Proverbs 16:6 ~ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Isaiah 20:6 ~ The inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day… whither we flee for help… and how shall we escape?

John 9:25 ~ One thing I know… whereas I was blind, now I see.

The Lord will yet incline His ear

To those who humbly seek His face.

He teaches them to wisely fear

And rescues them with truth and grace.

There is no other place to flee!

There is no other saving favor!

I once was blind, but now I see

The lovingkindness of my Savior.

Reputation of our Refuge

Read:  Psalm 9 / Proverbs 15 / Isaiah 19 /John 8

Psalm 9:9,10 ~ The LORD also will be… a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Proverbs 15:11 ~ Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more, then, the hearts of the children of men?

Isaiah 19:20 ~ They shall cry unto the LORD… He shall send them a Savior, and a great One, and He shall deliver them.

John 8:56,58 ~ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad… Before Abraham was, I am.

Our refuge in the Lord is sure;

We rest upon His reputation.

He laid His life down to procure

The treasure of His great salvation.

We joyfully and safely run

To Him who gladdened Abraham.

There is none greater, no, not one,

Than Jesus Christ, the great I AM.

What is our Worth?

Read:  Psalm 8 / Proverbs 14 / Isaiah 18 /John 7

Psalm 8:4 ~ What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Proverbs 14:26 ~ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Isaiah 18:3 ~ All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.

John 7:37,38 ~ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

What is a man, that he is worth

The ransom of our God and Savior,

Who left His throne to come to earth

To thus extend His saving favor?

Why does the Lord so care for man?

Why was our Savior for us cursed?

He saves us as no other can

And satisfies our longing thirst!

Cling to Christ

Read:  Psalm 7 / Proverbs 13 / Isaiah 17 /John 6

Psalm 7:7 ~ So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.

Proverbs 13:20 ~ He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Isaiah 17:6,7 ~ Yet gleaning grapes shall be left… At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

John 6:67-69 ~ Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

The Lord beholds His congregation;

He guides their way; He hears their cries.

He satisfies them with salvation,

And those who cling to Him are wise.

When crowds departed, Jesus said

“Will ye [then] also go away?”

To whom shall sinners go instead?

Christ is our only Hope today!

From Heaviness To Happiness

Read:  Psalm 6 / Proverbs 12 / Isaiah 16 /John 5

Psalm 6:9 ~ The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Proverbs 12:25 ~ Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Isaiah 16:5 ~In mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

John 5:24 ~ He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

The Lord has heard my supplication,

And He responded to my prayer.

My heart is gladdened with salvation

And with the comfort of His care.

My heaviness has now been changed

To happiness by Christ my Savior!

Though I had been from Him estranged,

He drew me near with saving favor!
