Focused on His Faithfulness

Read:  Psalm 4 / Proverbs 11 / Lam. 3 /1 Cor. 13

Psalm 4:4 ~ Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Lamentations 3:22,23 ~ It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

1 Corinthians 13:13 ~ And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

The Lord commands us to be still

And stand in awe of what He’s done.

When we are focused on His will,

We look for souls that may be won.

We hear the sinner’s daily scorning;

We see this world’s passing fashion.

Yet God is faithful every morning

To set our hope on His compassion.

Explain the Excellence

Read:  Psalm 3 / Proverbs 10 / Lam. 2 /1 Cor. 12

Psalm 3:3 ~ But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Proverbs 10:22 ~ The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Lamentations 2:17 ~ The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded.

1 Corinthians 12:31 ~ But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

The Lord has lifted up our head

To where the curse cannot be found,

For Jesus suffered in our stead

So that His blessings could abound.

He is our Shield and our Glory

Who gave Himself in our defense.

As we explain the Gospel story,

We show our Savior’s excellence.

Appointed for the Anointed

Read:  Psalm 2 / Proverbs 9 / Lam. 1 /1 Cor. 11

Psalm 2:1,2 ~ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?... against the LORD, and against His Anointed.

Proverbs 9:5 ~ Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

Lamentations 1:12 ~ Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

1 Corinthians 11:26 ~ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Why would the foolish nations rage

Against the Lord and His Anointed

As written on the Scripture’s page

Foretelling that which was appointed?

It was for love!  Christ died for all!

We ponder Him with bread and wine.

The Man of Sorrows we recall

Appoints us now to come and dine.

Delightfully Dining

Read:  Psalm 1 / Proverbs 8 / Jer. 52 /1 Cor. 10

Psalm 1:2; 23:5,6 ~ But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night… Thou preparest a table before me… all the days of my life”

Proverbs 8:34 ~ Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Jeremiah 52:33 ~ [Jehoiachin] changed his prison garments… he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.

1 Corinthians 10:31 ~ Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

The Word of God shall bring delight

If we will meditate therein

As we continue day and night

To dine with Christ and turn from sin.

Though darkness once had been our prison,

The light has come!  We are set free!

Our Shepherd Jesus Christ is risen

Who dines with us continually.

Save Some

Read:  Psalm 150 / Proverbs 7 / Jer. 51 /1 Cor. 9

Psalm 150:2 ~ Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Proverbs 7:1,3 ~ My son, keep my words… write them upon the table of thine heart.

Jeremiah 51:10,15 ~ The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness… let us declare… He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

1 Corinthians 9:22,23 ~ I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Praise God for all His mighty acts

Fulfilled according to His Word.

Let us declare the awesome facts

In all His works that have occurred.

The time to speak has surely come,

And silence is a great mistake.

By all means now let us save some

For Christ and for the Gospel’s sake.

His Pleasure and His Pleading

Read:  Psalm 149 / Proverbs 6 / Jer. 50 /1 Cor. 8

Psalm 149:4 ~ For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Proverbs 6:20-22 ~ My son, keep thy father's commandment…  When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

Jeremiah 50:34 ~ Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause.

1 Corinthians 8:3 ~ But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

The Lord takes pleasure in His own

Whom He has saved and beautified.

He tells us we are not alone,

For He will never leave our side.

Our great Redeemer pleads our case

And intercedes for us above,

Upholding us with saving grace

And with His everlasting love.

Fleeting Fashion

Read:  Psalm 148 / Proverbs 5 / Jer. 49 /1 Cor. 7

Psalm 148:13 ~ Praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

Proverbs 5:9 ~ Lest thou give thine honor unto others, and thy years unto the cruel.

Jeremiah 49:16 ~ Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart… I will bring thee down…saith the LORD.

1 Corinthians 7:29-31 ~ But this I say, brethren, the time is short… Use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

Let us proclaim our Savior’s praise

And preach the Word of His report

As we are mindful that our days

On earth are numbered and are short.

Though many are deceived by pride

As they reject the Lord’s compassion,

They shall regret that they relied

Upon this world’s fleeting fashion.

Purchased with a Price

Read:  Psalm 147 / Proverbs 4 / Jer. 48 /1 Cor. 6

Psalm 147:4 ~ He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

Proverbs 4:18 ~ But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Jeremiah 48:42 ~ And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.

1 Corinthians 6:20 ~ For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The God who numbers every star

Has also given them their names

With words declaring, near and far,

The Gospel message He proclaims.

So, like the stars that spread His Word,

Let us proclaim His sacrifice,

For our salvation is assured

Since we are purchased with a price.

Our Lord and Our Lamb

Read:  Psalm 146 / Proverbs 3 / Jer. 47 /1 Cor. 5

Psalm 146:5,6 ~ Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help… which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth forever:

Proverbs 3:5 ~ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Jeremiah 47:6,7 ~ O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet?... How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge… there hath he appointed it.

1 Corinthians 5:7 ~ For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.

Rejoice in Jesus our Creator

Who keeps the truth forevermore.

His death and resurrection later

Fulfilled His words foretold before.

We see the image of God’s sword

Awake against the great I AM,

For our Passover is our Lord,

Our spotless, sacrificial Lamb.

Standard of the Steward

Read:  Psalm 145 / Proverbs 2 / Jer. 46 /1 Cor. 4

Psalm 145:19 ~ He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

Proverbs 2:4,5 ~ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Jeremiah 46:15 ~ Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.

1 Corinthians 4:2-4 ~ It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful… I judge not mine own self… He that judgeth me is the Lord.

The Lord fulfills the deep desire

Of those who fear Him as they should.

We’re called to lift our standard higher

Than those who judge themselves as good.

Let not the steward boast with pride,

For arrogance shall be abhorred.

We cannot be self-justified,

For He who judges is the Lord.
