Workers in the Word

Read:  Psalm 119:97-104 / Proverbs 14 / Ezekiel 18 / 2 Tim. 2

Psalm 119:97,104 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day… therefore I hate every false way.

Proverbs 14:25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Ezekiel 18:23,32 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?...  I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord…wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We learn to love what we have heard

As by God’s truth, we are made wise.

By meditating on His Word,

We see and hate satanic lies.

As workers in the Word of God,

We study that we may divide

The truth from lies that fools applaud

To rescue souls for whom Christ died.

Perfectly Planned

Read:  Psalm 119:89-96 / Proverbs 13 / Ezekiel 17 / 2 Tim. 1

Psalm 119:96 I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

Proverbs 13:15 Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors is hard.

Ezekiel 17:24 I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree… I… have spoken and have done it.

2 Timothy 1:8,9 God… hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling… according to his own purpose and grace.

I’ve seen an end of all perfection

In every human heart and hand.

How flawless is the Lord’s direction!

How perfectly His work is planned!

The perfect plan of God our Savior

In all His workmanship we trace

Is seen as we explore His favor

According to His truth and grace.

Flee and Follow

Read:  Psalm 119:81-88 / Proverbs 12 / Ezekiel 16 / 1 Tim. 6

Psalm 119:83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

Proverbs 12:28 In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of… Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her.

1 Timothy 6:11 O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

The smoke arising from the flame

May hide reality from view,

But Jesus Christ is still the same,

And every word of God is true.

Let’s stay the course that God will bless,

Though now the path may be obscured.

Let’s flee from pride and idleness

To follow Christ and trust His Word.

Fashioned to be Faithful

Read:  Psalm 119:73-80 / Proverbs 11 / Ezekiel 15 / 1 Tim. 5

Psalm 119:73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Ezekiel 15:2 Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

1 Timothy 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels… observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

I’m fashioned by my Lord’s design;

It’s wise to do what He commands.

I am a branch; He is the Vine.

I am the work of His own hands.

I would be faithful to His charge;

I would be pleasing in His eyes,

So let my heart for Him enlarge

With faith that will not compromise.

Learning from the Lord

Read:  Psalm 119:65-72 / Proverbs 10 / Ezekiel 14 / 1 Tim. 4

Psalm 119:68,71 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes… It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

Proverbs 10:29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Ezekiel 14:23 Ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.

1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

The Lord is good who teaches us

By His instruction we should heed.

We also are victorious

By His correction that we need.

Affliction from the Lord is good,

For by His hand we are restored

That we may serve Him as we should

As we are learning from the Lord.

Gospel of God

Read:  Psalm 119:57-64 / Proverbs 9 / Ezekiel 13 / 1 Tim. 3

Psalm 119:59,63 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies… I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.

Proverbs 9:6,10 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding… The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Ezekiel 13:3 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

1 Timothy 3:16 God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

How great is the Christ we adore

Who authored and finished salvation,

Whom fools blindly choose to ignore,

Confirming their own condemnation!

Confusion today may abound,

But God is not changing His story.

The Gospel of God we expound

Still magnifies Christ and His glory.

Songs I Sing

Read:  Psalm 119:49-56 / Proverbs 8 / Ezekiel 12 / 1 Tim. 2

Psalm 119:54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

Proverbs 8:34,35 Blessed is the man that heareth… watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.

Ezekiel 12:8,23 In the morning came the word of the Lord unto me… Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

1 Timothy 2:3-6 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth… who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

The songs I sing about my Savior

Each day along my pilgrim path

Rehearse the blessings of His favor

By which He saved my soul from wrath.

The songs I sing about salvation

Are moving me to tell the lost

To hide themselves from condemnation

In Christ who paid their ransom’s cost.

Speaking to Sinners

Read:  Psalm 119:41-48 / Proverbs 7 / Ezekiel 11 / 1 Tim. 1

Psalm 119:46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

Proverbs 7:25,27 Let not thine heart decline… to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

Ezekiel 11:5 The Spirit of the LORD…  said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD… I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying… that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

We’re speaking to sinners in danger,

Though they may be highly acclaimed.

The sinner to God is a stranger;

We’re speaking the truth unashamed.

The Lord knows each thought in their mind;

The poor and the wealthy as well.

We speak so that sinners may find

The Lord who will save them from hell.

Looking and Laboring

Read:  Psalm 119:33-40 / Proverbs 6 / Ezekiel 10 / 2 Thes. 3

Psalm 119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Ezekiel 10:1,14 Then I looked… the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

2 Thessalonians 3:5,13 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ… But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

The Lord will turn away my eyes

From looking at the vanity

That would destroy me otherwise

By sin that plagues humanity.

I’m looking at my Savior’s face,

And I shall not be weary now,

For as I labor by His grace,

I’ll run with strength He will endow.

Word and Work

Read:  Psalm 119:25-32 / Proverbs 5 / Ezekiel 9 / 2 Thes. 2

Psalm 119:25,31 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word… I have stuck unto thy testimonies.

Proverbs 5:7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Ezekiel 9:4 The LORD said… Set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God… stablish you in every good word and work.

My soul at times may cleave to dust,

But I am sticking to God’s Word.

The promises of God I’ll trust,

For dust has never long endured.

I see the great abomination

Of sins that in our day increase.

The word and work of God’s salvation

Is still His only path to peace.

Longing for the Light

Read:  Psalm 119:17-24 / Proverbs 4 / Ezekiel 8 / 2 Thess. 1

Psalm 119:18,20 Open thou mine eyes… My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.

Proverbs 4:18,19 The path of the just is as the shining light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day…  The way of the wicked is as darkness.

Ezekiel 8:12 Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients… do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery?

2 Thessalonians 1:10 He shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe.

My soul is longing for the light

That God will give to see my Savior

Until His beauty fills my sight

And shines, as well, in my behavior.

The light grows brighter for the just,

But for the lost, the darkness grows.

How needful, then, it is to trust

The guiding light His Word bestows.

Hating Half-Heartedness

Read:  Psalm 119:9-16 / Proverbs 3 / Ezekiel 7 / 1 Thess. 5

Psalm 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Ezekiel 7:17 All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

The God who is faithful is calling

For all of my heart to submit.

A half-hearted stand is appalling,

Unworthy of Christ, and unfit.

Christ strengthens me when I am weak.

My Savior is faithful and true,

So I will whole-heartedly seek

To please Him in all that I do.

Follow and Foresee

Read:  Psalm 119:1-8 / Proverbs 2 / Ezekiel 6 / 1 Thes. 4

Psalm 119:2,5 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart… O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

Proverbs 2:3,5 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding… Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Ezekiel 6:10 And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 We… shall be caught up together with them in the clouds… and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The Lord sees those who are sincere;

Their understanding makes them bold.

They follow Christ with holy fear,

And they foresee the things foretold.

The Lord with certainty has spoken;

He rose, as promised, from the dead.

The Scripture never shall be broken;

He shall return, as He has said.

Strength, Song, Salvation

Read:  Psalm 118 / Proverbs 1 / Ezekiel 5 / 1 Thess. 3

Psalm 118:14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

Proverbs 1:33 Whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Ezekiel 5:5 Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries.

1 Thessalonians 3:9 For what thanks can we render to God again… for all the joy wherewith we joy?

My strength, my song, and my salvation

Describe the beauty of my Savior.

He saved my soul from condemnation;

He guards and guides me with His favor.

He put me in the midst of those

Who need the truth that makes us free.

I’ll show them that He died and rose

And that He gave Himself for me!
