"Our years are… soon cut off, and we fly away… So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom… and let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us" (Psalm 90:10,12,17). "Give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion" (Proverbs 1:4). "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth… Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:1,13). "Having loved His own which were in the world, He loved them unto the end" (John 13:1).
Our
years are soon passed like a day,
And
swiftly our youth, like the dawn,
Shall
fade, and we soon fly away,
When
days few and fleeting are gone.
Let
youth be adorned with the beauty
Beheld
in the Lamb sacrificed!
Let
love be the fountain of duty
Exalting
our Lord Jesus Christ!
Let
children behold their Creator
And
keep His commandments with fear,
Acknowledging
there is none greater,
Or
wiser, or stronger, or dear.
O
Lord, though the years of our youth
Depart
like the brief morning dew,
We
hold to this unchanging truth:
There's
no one who loves us like You.
