“O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, Thou shalt purge them away… O God of our salvation, who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth” (Psalm 65:2-5). “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged” (Proverbs 15:6). “And he [the dying thief] said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when Thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise” (Luke 23:42,43).
How
good it is to now declare
Our
trust in Him to whom we pray!
His
name is “Thou that hearest prayer”
Who
purges all our sins away.
To
Him shall sinners come by grace,
Who
by His Spirit have been urged,
To
find in Him a Hiding Place
Where
our transgressions have been purged.
Iniquities
from early youth,
And
all our sins since then as well,
Are
purged mercy and by truth
Through
Christ who rescues us from hell.
Our
Savior knew the awful price
To
rescue us from endless loss:
He
knew that He must sacrifice
Himself
upon that horrid cross.
We
take our place now with the thief
Who
then was punished for his crime,
Who
by God’s grace had found relief
By
calling to the Lord in time!
We
hear the words of Christ our Savior
As
Paradise was then assured.
In
Christ we also find this favor
As
promised in His faithful Word.
O
gracious God of our salvation,
We
come with joy and confidence
As
we have heard Your invitation
To
find in You our soul’s defense!
O
Lord, the ends of earth shall know
Your
grace that purges perfectly
Which,
by the Gospel, now we show
On
this side of eternity!
