Reasons for Reproof

"And when He [the Comforter, God's Spirit] is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" (John 16:8).

The ministry of God the Spirit
Is very much alive and well,
Reproving those with ears to hear it
Of their need to flee from hell.

Among the reasons for reproof
Is this matter of our sin
To which this age is so aloof,
To what defiles us within.

Another reason we're reproved
Is for our need of righteousness,
Without which we must be removed
From every way that God would bless.

The final reason that we hear
Reproof with God's correction
Is judgment that is drawing near,
For which we need perfection.

For sin, for righteousness, and wrath,
God's Spirit is reproving still
To lead us in the saving path
Within the center of His will.
