"Lead me to the rock that is higher than I....Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear Thy name" (Psalm 61:2,5). "Surely He scorneth the scorners, but He giveth grace to the lowly. The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools" (Proverbs 3:34,35). "Go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher... for whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted" (Luke 14:10,11).
There is no higher heritage that anyone can claim
Than given those who shall inherit glory.
God gives it to the humble, to those who fear His name,
Not to those who scorn redemption's story.
What a privilege it is to take the lower place,
And give to Christ the glory He is due.
This is the higher heritage of those He saves by grace;
Too marvelous for words, and yet it's true!
