Comfort and Correction

Read:  Psalm 35 / Proverbs 17 / Numbers 20 / 1 Thes. 2

Psalm 35:3,22 ~ Say unto my soul, I am thy Salvation… O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

Proverbs 17:17 ~ A Friend loveth at all times, and a Brother is born for adversity.

Numbers 20:10-24 ~ Moses… said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?...  And the LORD spake unto Moses… Ye rebelled against My word.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 ~ But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the Gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

I need to hear what God will say

To comfort and correct my heart.

Sometimes I’m prone to go astray,

Yet as a Friend, He won’t depart.

Because I am allowed to speak

About the Gospel of His love,

He tries my heart that I may seek

His perfect wisdom from above.

Prophetic Portraits

Read:  Psalm 34 / Proverbs 16 / Numbers 19 / 1 Thes. 1

Psalm 34:3 ~ O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Proverbs 16:6 ~ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged.

Numbers 19:2 ~ This is the ordinance of … a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke.

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 ~ Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised… which delivered us from the wrath to come.

O magnify the Lord with me!

Let us declare what He has done:

His grace and truth have made us free;

No sin condemns us; no, not one!

The spotless heifer that was slain

For cleansing sin was sacrificed.

Prophetic portraits now are plain

Which are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Evangelistic Effort

Read:  Psalm 33 / Proverbs 15 / Numbers 18 / Colossians 4

Psalm 33:13-15 ~ The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men, from the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

Proverbs 15:3,11 ~ The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding… evil and the good. Hell and destruction are before the LORD… much more… the hearts of the children of men?

Numbers 18:6 ~ The Levites… are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Colossians 4:5-6 ~ Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace… that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

The Lord is looking from His throne

Upon each heart in every place.

He makes His coming judgment known

To show the lost their need of grace.

The effort of His congregation

Includes evangelistic preaching

As we extend His invitation

To everyone He still is reaching.

Resurrection Reproof

Read:  Psalm 32 / Proverbs 14 / Numbers 17 / Colossians 3

Psalm 32:8 ~ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Proverbs 14:14 ~ The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Numbers 17:8,10 ~ The rod of Aaron… budded… bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds... a token against the rebels.

Colossians 3:1-3 ~ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth… Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

The Lord instructs us in His way

And guides us with His loving care.

He knows that we are prone to stray,

So He reproves us then and there.

As God displayed the blooming rod

To show that Aaron was His choice,

Christ’s resurrection speaks for God,

Reproving every other voice.

Prophetic Prayer

Read:  Psalm 31 / Proverbs 13 / Numbers 16 / Colossians 2

Psalm 31:5 ~ Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

Proverbs 13:8 ~ The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

Numbers 16:48 ~ And he [Aaron] stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

Colossians 2:13-15 ~ You, being dead… he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses… having spoiled principalities and powers… triumphing over them in it.

The words of Christ when He expired

Were by the psalmist prophesied.

The ransom that our souls required

Was paid in full when Jesus died.

Where Aaron stood, the plague was stayed

Between the living and the dead,

Portraying Christ who for us prayed

And triumphed for us in our stead.

Reminded by Ribbons

Read:  Psalm 30 / Proverbs 12 / Numbers 15 / Colossians 1

Psalm 30:11,12 ~ Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing… To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent…. I will give thanks unto thee forever.

Proverbs 12:20 ~ Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy.

Numbers 15:38-40 ~ Put upon the fringe of the borders a ribbon of blue… that ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

Colossians 1:10 ~ Walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful… increasing in the knowledge of God;

The garments of our Lord’s salvation

Have girded us with gladness now

As we confess with adoration

That Christ is Lord and gladly bow.

As ribbons on the garment borders

Of Israelites were on display

Reminding them to heed God’s orders,

Let us walk worthy, and obey.

Give Glory

Read:  Psalm 29 / Proverbs 11 / Numbers 14 / Philippians 4

Psalm 29:2 ~ Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Proverbs 11:3 ~ The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

Numbers 14:37,38 ~ Those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD. But Joshua… and Caleb… lived still.

Philippians 4:13 ~ I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Give glory to our Savior’s name

With holy, humble, trusting hearts,

For we who once were clothed in shame

Are saved by grace that He imparts.

Integrity shall be our guide

And teach our hearts to trust Him still,

Unlike those messengers who died

When they refused to do God’s will.

Press toward the Prize

Read:  Psalm 28 / Proverbs 10 / Numbers 13 / Philippians 3

Psalm 28:1 ~ O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

Proverbs 10:5 ~ He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Numbers 13:30,31 ~ Caleb stilled the people… Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it… But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Philippians 3:14 ~ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

If God were silent, we would be

Without a message to proclaim,

Like those who stumble foolishly

Into their pit of sin and shame.

But God has spoken to us all,

And those who love Him shall be wise.

Press onward, therefore, to His call:

Our Savior’s pleasure is our prize!

Meditating on His Mind

Read:  Psalm 27 / Proverbs 9 / Numbers 12 / Philippians 2

Psalm 27:4 ~ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD.

Proverbs 9:10 ~ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Numbers 12:3 ~ Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.

Philippians 2:5 ~ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Let one thing be our chief desire:

To see the beauty of the Lord.

There is no wisdom that is higher!

There is no greater joy explored!

In tabernacle scenes we find

The meekness of our Savior shown.

We’re meditating on His mind

To make His attitude our own.
