"Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi (Heb. The LORD My Banner)... because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation" (Exodus 17:15.16). "They that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee" (Psalm 9:9,10). "The LORD shall be thy Confidence" (Proverbs 3:26). " Awake thou that sleepest... because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:14-16).
There
was an altar Moses named
When
Amalek against him warred.
"Jehovah-Nissi"
thus proclaimed
Their
trusted banner was the LORD.
In
Christ it is the same today:
We
know we'll never be forsaken.
Our
banner raised is on display
With
boldness that is not mistaken.
The
LORD shall be our Confidence
Though
wars around us do not cease,
For
Christ Himself is our Defense,
Our
Banner, and our perfect Peace.
The
boldness of our banner, Lord,
As
we awake in evil days,
Is
in Your Word, the Spirit's sword,
Upheld
with prayer and grateful praise.
