"They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him… But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me" (Psalm 49:6,7,15). "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10). "How is the gold become dim... for our end is come!" (Lamentations 4:1,18). "He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him" (Hebrews 7:25).
How
futile in the end is wealth
Without
redemption that God gave.
How
fleeting is the best of health,
But
God redeems us from the grave!
The
fear of God is the beginning
Of
honesty that makes us wise.
There
is an end, at last, to sinning,
For
every living person dies.
How
surely does the gold turn dim
Without
the Lord eternally.
All
those who turn away from Him
Shall
know the depths of poverty.
O
God, without You, gold is vain
With
all the wealth in which men boast.
In
You we find our truest gain:
You
saved us to the uttermost!
