“O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise Him, all ye people!” (Psalm 117:1). “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils. And she went and told them that had been with them, as they mourned and wept. And they… believed not. After that, He appeared in another form unto two of them…. Neither believed they them. Afterward He appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart” (Mark 16:9-14).
O praise the Lord with a triumphant shout:
His tomb is prepared for inspection!
Then why were disciples still dampened by doubt
When Christ had foretold resurrection?
Imagine the joy when our Lord spoke to Mary,
Who showed her that He was not dead!
And did they believe her? No, on the contrary:
They doubted the words that she said!
The Lord spoke to two who were walking alone,
So sadly, as people bereaved.
Christ opened their eyes and He made Himself known,
But neither were these two believed.
How often, O Lord, do You find us as well
Like those who with doubt have been hardened?
Should not we be glad that You saved us from hell
And joyful our sins have been pardoned?
We thank You, O Lord, that You still open eyes,
Removing such doubt from our vision,
Restoring our joy, and exposing the lies
That make us forget You are RISEN!
(Alleluia!)
