Bring our Burden

Read:  Psalm 55 / Proverbs 30 / Isaiah 65 /Romans 5

Psalm 55:22 ~ Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Proverbs 30:5 ~ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Isaiah 65:24 ~ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Romans 5:5 ~ The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

We bring our burden to the Lord;

By Him our broken hearts are healed,

And thus, our souls shall be restored,

For God Himself shall be our Shield.

The Lord shall hear our earnest prayer.

His boundless love is shed abroad

In hearts that cast on Him their care

And have their confidence in God.

Persuaded by His Promises

Read:  Psalm 54 / Proverbs 29 / Isaiah 64 /Romans 4

Psalm 54:4 ~ Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

Proverbs 29:25 ~ The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Isaiah 64:4 ~ For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God… what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

Romans 4:20,21 ~ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

I am persuaded by God’s Word;

I trust the promises He made.

By God Himself I am assured

There is no cause to be afraid.

Like Abraham, whose faith was strong

In promises that God foretold,

I know the Lord is never wrong,

So why then should I not be bold?

Rebels Redeemed

Read:  Psalm 53 / Proverbs 28 / Isaiah 63 /Romans 3

Psalm 53:2,3 ~ God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God… there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Proverbs 28:5 ~ Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Isaiah 63:7-10 ~ I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD… In all their affliction he was afflicted… in his love and in his pity, he redeemed them; and he bare them… But they rebelled.

Romans 3:23,24 ~ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

The Lord looked down to see who would

Be wise enough to seek His face.

We all rebelled!  Not one was good,

Yet He redeemed us by His grace!

How wonderful is His salvation

For rebels who had turned aside!

Our sins demanded condemnation,

But by His grace, we’re justified.

Continuing Commission

Read:  Psalm 52 / Proverbs 27 / Isaiah 62 /Romans 2

Psalm 52:1 ~ Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.

Proverbs 27:11 ~ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Isaiah 62:6 ~ I have set watchmen… which… never hold their peace… ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence.

Romans 2:16 ~ God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Boast not yourself, O mighty man,

Against the truth that you malign.

The goodness of our Savior’s plan

Continues by His wise design.

The watchmen Christ has set in place

Shall speak and never hold their peace.

As they continue by His grace,

His great commission shall not cease.

Proclaim it to the Prisoners

Read:  Psalm 51 / Proverbs 26 / Isaiah 61 /Romans 1

Psalm 51:2 ~ Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Proverbs 26:2 ~ So the curse causeless shall not come.

Isaiah 61:1 ~ The LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek… to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

Romans 1:16 ~ For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Let Gospel tidings be proclaimed

To those in prison who are bound.

Be ready and be unashamed

To preach our Gospel’s joyful sound!

Salvation washes thoroughly

The sinners who had once been cursed.

Our Savior sets the captives free

And satisfies their longing thirst!

Global Gospel

Read:  Psalm 50 / Proverbs 25 / Isaiah 60 /Acts 28

Psalm 50:1 ~ The mighty God… hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

Proverbs 25:25 ~ As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Isaiah 60:1,3 ~ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee… and the Gentiles shall come to thy light.

Acts 28:28 ~ Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

The mighty God has surely spoken

And called the nations to repent.

The Scripture never shall be broken

By which His Gospel has been sent.

Let God’s ambassadors arise

And shine the light of His salvation!

Though some may choose to close their eyes,

God sends His Word to every nation.

Pondering the Poverty

Read:  Psalm 49 / Proverbs 24 / Isaiah 59 /Acts 27

Psalm 49:8,15 ~ The redemption of their soul is precious... But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

Proverbs 24:11,12 ~ If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death… doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it?

Isaiah 59:16 ~ He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

Acts 27:25 ~ Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

When pondering the poverty

Of precious souls who yet are lost,

We ought to seek more earnestly

To show to them redemption’s cost.

We ought to speak with strong persuasion

With evidence they may perceive

And also pray on each occasion

That they will know why we believe.

Guided by God

Read:  Psalm 48 / Proverbs 23 / Isaiah 58 /Acts 26

Psalm 48:14 ~ For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

Proverbs 23:26 ~ My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Isaiah 58:11 ~ And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Acts 26:16-18 ~ I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness… to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light… from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness… and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

The Savior is our God and Guide

Who calls us to observe His ways,

Whose word was proven when He died

And rose, as promised, in three days.

The Lord shall guide us faithfully

To bring the Gospel’s proclamation

That ears may hear, that eyes may see,

And hearts may trust Him for salvation.

Proclaim His Praise

Read:  Psalm 47 / Proverbs 22 / Isaiah 57 /Acts 25

Psalm 47:7 ~ God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

Proverbs 22:19 ~ That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

Isaiah 57:15 ~ Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Acts 25:22 ~ Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. Tomorrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.

The Lord is King of all the earth;

Creation came by His commanding,

But our salvation by His birth.

Proclaim His praise with understanding!

Behold the LORD, so high and holy,

The lofty King of all creation!

Behold the LAMB, so meek and lowly

Who died to purchase our salvation!

Comfort and Constraint

Read:  Psalm 46 / Proverbs 21 / Isaiah 56 /Acts 24

Psalm 46:10 ~ Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Proverbs 21:2 ~ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

Isaiah 56:2-4 ~ Blessed is the man that… keepeth his hand from doing any evil… and choose the things that please me.

Acts 24:16 ~ And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

The comfort of our Savior’s love

Now bids the troubled heart, “Be still,”

For Christ is still enthroned above

And pleased with those who do His will.

Since God is always pondering

The choices that we make each day,

May love constrain our wandering

And exercise us to obey.

Matter of Mercy

Read:  Psalm 45 / Proverbs 20 / Isaiah 55 /Acts 23

Psalm 45:1 ~ My heart is indicting a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king.

Proverbs 20:9 ~ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Isaiah 55:6 ~ Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.

Acts 23:11 ~ And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

This matter of mercy is true:

The Gospel we’re called to proclaim

Declares what our Savior will do

For all who will call on His name.

But who has believed our report?

So many continue to stray!

The time to seek God is so short!

The Gospel is crucial today!

Heralds of our Heritage

Read:  Psalm 44 / Proverbs 19 / Isaiah 54 /Acts 22

Psalm 44:8 ~ In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

Proverbs 19:23 ~ The fear of the LORD tendeth to life… he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Isaiah 54:13,17 ~ All thy children shall be taught of the LORD… This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Acts 22:15 ~ For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

In God we’re boasting all day long;

We are the heralds of His Word.

Though we are weak, the Lord is strong;

Our heritage is thus assured.

We are His children by new birth;

Our righteousness has come from Christ.

It was for this He came to earth

And for this cause was sacrificed.

At the Altar

Read:  Psalm 43 / Proverbs 18 / Isaiah 53 /Acts 21

Psalm 43:3,4 ~ O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me… bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

Proverbs 18:1 ~ Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

Isaiah 53:11 ~ He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Acts 21:13,14 ~ I am ready… to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus...The will of the Lord be done.

I sought and found my God and Savior

Here at the altar of His cross.

He died to grant His saving favor

And rescue me from endless loss.

I see this altar prophesied

Throughout Isaiah fifty-three

Where God says I am justified

By all that Christ endured for me!
