Hear and Heed

Read:  Psalm 32 / Proverbs 30 / Joshua 11 / Mat. 17

 

Psalm 32:8 ~ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Proverbs 30:5 ~ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Joshua 11:15 ~ As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

Matthew 17:5 ~ Behold a voice out of the cloud... said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

 

The Lord shall give us His instruction

To make His way before us clear

And guard our hearts from sin's seduction,

Assuring us that He is near. 

 

We need to hear and heed God’s Son

In whom the Father has delight. 

Leave no command He gives undone;

Turn neither to the left nor right.  

 

Cause for Courage

Read:  Psalm 31 / Proverbs 29 / Joshua 10 / Mat. 16

 

Psalm 31:24 ~ Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Proverbs 29:25 ~ The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Joshua 10:8,42 ~ The LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee... the LORD... fought for Israel.

Matthew 16:18 ~ Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

 

By grace our courage shall increase

From Christ in answer to our prayers,

Receiving from Him perfect peace

And strength to turn from deadly snares. 

 

God’s people had no cause to fear;

God fought for them, and would not fail.

Christ made our cause for courage clear: 

The gates of hell shall not prevail.  

 

Healer and Helper

Read:  Psalm 30 / Proverbs 28 / Joshua 9 / Mat. 15

 

Psalm 30:2,10 ~ O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me... Hear, O LORD... be thou my helper.

Proverbs 28:5 ~ Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Joshua 9:24-25 ~ We were sore afraid... behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do.

Matthew 15:30 ~ Great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them.

 

My Healer and my Helper lives! 

My soul is now forever healed. 

The health and help He freely gives

To humble hearts has been revealed. 

 

The Lord who cured the blind and lame

Still helps those who will seek His face.

The meek with joy shall praise His name

And thank Him for His saving grace.   

 

Glory to God

Read:  Psalm 29 / Proverbs 27 / Joshua 8 / Mat. 14

 

Psalm 29:2 ~ Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Proverbs 27:11 ~ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Joshua 8:30-35 ~ Joshua built an altar unto the LORD... And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and the cursings... before all the congregation of Israel.

Matthew 14:33 ~ Then they that were in the ship came and worshiped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

 

We ought to give the glory due

To God whose praise is glorious.

Let us consider what is true

Concerning Christ who died for us. 

 

Let not the deeds of Christ be hid,

But rather let them be explored 

To worship Him for what He did

And glorify Him as our Lord. 

 

Need for Newness

Read:  Psalm 28 / Proverbs 26 / Joshua 7 / Mat. 13

 

Psalm 28:1,5 ~ O LORD my Rock; be not silent to me: lest... I become like them that go down into the pit... they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands.

Proverbs 26:4 ~ Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

Joshua 7:13 ~ Thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

Matthew 13:15 ~ For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed.

 

I need the Lord to speak to me

With newness from His Word each day,

For otherwise I soon would be

Like those who go from Him astray. 

 

I cannot stand before my foes

If there is wickedness within.  

I'll hear the Lord who surely knows

The need to cleanse my heart from sin.  

 

Behold the Beauty

Read:  Psalm 27 / Proverbs 25 / Joshua 6 / Mat. 12

 

Psalm 27:4 ~ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may... behold the beauty of the LORD.

Proverbs 25:2 ~ It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.

Joshua 6:25 ~ Joshua saved Rahab... and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers.

Matthew 12:6 ~ But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

 

Behold the beauty of the Lord

In Jesus Christ, the great I Am,

The King by multitudes adored,

Proclaiming "Worthy is the Lamb!"

 

This was the beauty Rahab saw

In God her Refuge and Creator!

So likewise does our Savior draw

Our heart to Him; there is none greater! 

 

Instructed by Integrity

Read:  Psalm 26 / Proverbs 24 / Joshua 5 / Mat. 11

 

Psalm 26:11 ~ But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me. 

Proverbs 24:27 ~ Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Joshua 5:9 ~ And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you.

Matthew 11:28-29 ~ Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

 

Instructed by integrity,

I sought at last the Savior’s face.

Reproach was rolled away from me

By Christ's redemptive work of grace! 

 

"Come unto Me," my Savior said,

To find the rest that He would give. 

Thus, by His promise I was led,

And by His grace and truth I live.  

 

Good Foundation of Godly Fear

Read:  Psalm 25 / Proverbs 23 / Joshua 4 / Mat. 10

 

Psalm 25:14 ~ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.

Proverbs 23:17 ~ Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

Joshua 4:23,24 ~ The LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you... that all the people of the earth... might fear the LORD your God for ever.

Matthew 10:28 ~ Fear not them which kill the body... but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

 

The secret of a good foundation

Is surely found in godly fear,

Whereby the sinner seeks salvation,

And God then makes His mercy clear. 

 

True wisdom has its sure beginning

In godly fear that reasons well.

The fool, in contrast, goes on sinning,

Indifferent to the truth of hell.  

 

Moved by the Multitudes

Read:  Psalm 24 / Proverbs 22 / Joshua 3 / Mat. 9

 

Psalm 24:1 ~ The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Proverbs 22:19-21 ~ That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have... written to thee excellent things... that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee.

Joshua 3:9 ~ And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the LORD your God.

Matthew 9:36-38 ~ When he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them... The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

 

The earth belongs to God alone;

He owns all those who dwell therein. 

The Lord has made His mercy known

To multitudes now lost in sin. 

 

By prophecies fulfilled He proved

The Gospel that we preach is true. 

With great compassion Christ is moved

To send us forth, though we are few.  

 

Safety in the Savior

Read:  Psalm 23 / Proverbs 21 / Joshua 2 / Mat. 8

 

Psalm 23:4 ~ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Proverbs 21:31 ~ The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

Joshua 2:11 ~ The LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Matthew 8:27 ~ But the men marveled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

 

The shadow of death now draws near;

Its valley is not far ahead,

But death has been robbed of its fear

By Jesus who rose from the dead. 

 

Our safety is found in the Savior

In earth and in heaven above. 

The storm shall be calmed by His favor;

Our refuge shall be in His love.  

 

Godly Seed with Good Success

Read:  Psalm 22 / Proverbs 20 / Joshua 1 / Mat. 7

 

 Psalm 22:30,31 ~ A seed shall... declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Proverbs 20:9 ~ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Joshua 1:8 ~ Meditate therein day and night... then thou shalt make thy way prosperous... then thou shalt have good success.

Matthew 7:14 ~ Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

 

The Lord foresaw a godly seed

Who would declare His righteousness

With grace that meets our deepest need

And prospers us with good success.

 

We hear this twice-born seed today

Proclaim the saving grace of Christ,

For we like sheep had gone astray,

But He for us was sacrificed. 

 

Face to Face Fellowship

Read:  Psalm 21 / Proverbs 19 / Deuteronomy 34 / Mat. 6

 

Psalm 21:1 ~ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

Proverbs 19:23 ~ The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he...  shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Deuteronomy 34:10 ~ And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.

Matthew 6:33 ~ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

 

How greatly shall my heart rejoice

As with my Savior I abide

To follow Him, to hear His voice, 

To know Him, and be satisfied! 

 

As Moses knew Him face to face,

I’ll seek the Lord, since I am able

To fellowship with Him by grace,

Communing with Him at His table. 

 

Learning about His Love

Read:  Psalm 20 / Proverbs 18 / Deuteronomy 33 / Mat. 5

 

Psalm 20:5 ~ We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. 

Proverbs 18:10 ~ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Deuteronomy 33:3,27 ~ He loved the people... they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words... The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Matthew 5:1,2 ~ And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them.

 

I'm learning more about the manner

Of God’s great love that brought salvation.

The Lord has given me His banner

To show His faithful reputation. 

 

I know His everlasting arms

Uphold me in His strong embrace.

His voice of love removes alarms

And teaches me about His grace. 

 

Warning and Winning

Read:  Psalm 19 / Proverbs 17 / Deuteronomy 32 / Mat. 4

 

Psalm 19:9-11 ~ The judgments of the LORD are true... By them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them, there is great reward.

Proverbs 17:10 ~ A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

Deuteronomy 32:4 ~ He is the Rock; his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth... just and right is he.

Matthew 4:4 ~ It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

 

The judgments of the Lord are true,

Providing warning and reward

To guide our steps in all we do

That we may glorify the Lord. 

 

He is the Rock of our salvation,

And all His words are just and right.

We win the battle of temptation

When we are walking in His light.
