Redeemed and Reborn

Read:  Psalm 136 / Proverbs 16 / 1 Samuel 23 / Luke 2

Psalm 136:1,23,24 ~ O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever… Who remembered us in our low estate… And hath redeemed us from our enemies.

Proverbs 16:6 ~ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

1 Samuel 23:4 ~ David inquired… And the LORD answered.

Luke 2:30,31 ~ Mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared before the face of all people.

Our eyes have seen the Lord’s salvation!

He has redeemed us from our sin,

And we became a new creation,

Reborn when Jesus entered in.

The Lord has heard the humble prayer

Of every heart that seeks His face.

Let those rejecting Him beware;

In Christ alone is saving grace.

Mindful of the Mighty

Read:  Psalm 135 / Proverbs 15 / 1 Samuel 22 / Luke 1

Psalm 135:13 ~ Thy name, O LORD, endureth forever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

Proverbs 15:11,24 ~ Hell and destruction are before the LORD… The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

1 Samuel 22:23 ~ Abide thou with me, fear not… with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Luke 1:47,49 ~ My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior… He that is mighty hath done to me great things… holy is his name.

The name of Jesus evermore

Shall make us mindful of His love.

Hell and destruction were in store,

But Christ descended from above.

The Lord of lords, the King of kings,

Delivered us from sin and shame.

Our mighty God has done great things,

And holy is our Savior’s name!

Cause for Confidence

Read:  Psalm 134 / Proverbs 14 / 1 Samuel 21 / Mark 16

Psalm 134:2,3 ~ Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD. The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee.

Proverbs 14:26,27 ~ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and… a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

1 Samuel 21:10 ~ And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

Mark 16:20 ~ They… preached everywhere, the Lord working with them… confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Lift up your hands in adoration

To Christ who is our strong Defense.

He is our Refuge and Salvation;

He is our Cause for confidence.

When David feared, he made his plan

To flee from Saul and then to Gath.

He learned thereby to fear not man,

But rather God, who saves from wrath.

Our Pleasure in Our Priest

Read:  Psalm 133 / Proverbs 13 / 1 Samuel 20 / Mark 15

Psalm 133:1 ~ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Proverbs 13:20 ~ He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

1 Samuel 20:17 ~ Jonathan caused David to swear… because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

Mark 15:47 ~ And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

Behold the goodness and the pleasure

Of unity around our Lord

As we have searched the boundless treasure

In Christ whose love we have explored.

Our fellowship of kindred love

Is joyful in our hearts’ reflection

On our Anointed Priest above,

His life, His death, and resurrection.

Defeat of Deceit

Read:  Psalm 132 / Proverbs 12 / 1 Samuel 19 / Mark 14

Psalm 132:11 ~ The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David.

Proverbs 12:5 ~ The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

1 Samuel 19:6 ~ Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

Mark 14:27,28 ~ All ye shall be offended…  for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered… But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

The Lord has surely spoken right

Against the darkness of deceit.

The Word of God has shined His light,

And liars thus have met defeat.

God’s promises were all that mattered,

When David faced his many foes.

The followers of Christ were scattered,

Yet boldly spoke when Jesus rose.

Wisely Watching

Read:  Psalm 131 / Proverbs 11 / 1 Samuel 18 / Mark 13

Psalm 131:1 ~ LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

Proverbs 11:2 ~ When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

1 Samuel 18:14 ~ And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.

Mark 13:33 ~ Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

The more creation is explored,

We wisely see by what is made

The great omniscience of the Lord

And His omnipotence displayed.

It is the humble who are wise,

Who know God’s wisdom is sublime,

Who show the truth, exposing lies,

Who watch and pray, redeeming time.

Marvelous Memories

Read:  Psalm 130 / Proverbs 10 / 1 Samuel 17 / Mark 12

Psalm 130:5 ~ I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

Proverbs 10:7,22 ~ The memory of the just is blessed… The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich… no sorrow with it.

1 Samuel 17:47 ~ All this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S.

Mark 12:10-11 ~ And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

There is a reason why I wait

For God and for His Word alone,

For as I therein meditate,

The Lord shall make His wisdom known.

I’ve seen His Word victorious

Fulfilled in promises He gave.

Such memories are marvelous

Of Christ who died and lives to save!

Winning Within

Read:  Psalm 129 / Proverbs 9 / 1 Samuel 16 / Mark 11

Psalm 129:2,4 ~ Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me... The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

Proverbs 9:10 ~ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

1 Samuel 16:7 ~ The LORD said… Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Mark 11:22 ~ Jesus… saith unto them, Have faith in God.

I’ve seen the battles rage between

The Lord and forces that have failed.

Our Savior lives to intervene;

The gates of hell have not prevailed.

Though struggles rise within my heart,

I know that faith in God shall win.

The Lord beholds my inward part

Where He shall cleanse and conquer sin.

Obedient Ears and Open Eyes

Read:  Psalm 128 / Proverbs 8 / 1 Samuel 15 / Mark 10

Psalm 128:1 ~ Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

Proverbs 8:13,34 ~ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate… Blessed is the man that heareth me.

1 Samuel 15:19 ~ Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD… and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

Mark 10:52 ~ Faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

God blesses each and every one

Who love the Lord with godly fear

And hate the evil that is done

By those who spurn the truth they hear.

The fear of God shall make us wise

That we may hear Him and obey.

Obedient ears and open eyes

Will follow Jesus in the way.

Charged as Children

Read:  Psalm 127 / Proverbs 7 / 1 Samuel 14 / Mark 9

Psalm 127:3-5 ~ Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD… As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man… they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Proverbs 7:24 ~ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

1 Samuel 14:6 ~ And Jonathan said… Come… for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

Mark 9:35,36 ~ If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them… when he had taken him… in his arms.

As arrows from a mighty man,

Our children should be charged to fight.

This is our Savior’s battle plan

To put the enemy to flight.

A child learns to place his trust

In power greater than his own.

No wonder Jesus said we must

Be child-like to make Him known.

Reflecting our Redeemer

Read:  Psalm 126 / Proverbs 6 / 1 Samuel 13 / Mark 8

Psalm 126:6 ~ He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Proverbs 6:23 ~ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

1 Samuel 13:14 ~ The LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain.

Mark 8:36,37 ~ For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

All those who sow the Gospel seed

With God’s compassion from above,

Reach out to sinners in their need,

Reflecting our Redeemer’s love.

The Lord is looking for the heart

That seeks to give Him full control,

And to that one He will impart

His love for every precious soul.

Consider Christ

Read:  Psalm 125 / Proverbs 5 / 1 Samuel 12 / Mark 7

Psalm 125:2 ~ As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even forever.

Proverbs 5:21 ~ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

1 Samuel 12:24 ~ Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

Mark 7:37 ~ He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

We see the mountains of creation

Display God’s strength and majesty,

Yet greater still is His salvation

That rescues us eternally.

Consider all that Christ has done!

Declare that He does all things well,

For none but Jesus, no, not one,

Can save eternal souls from hell.

Waves of Wrath

Read:  Psalm 124 / Proverbs 4 / 1 Samuel 11 / Mark 6

Psalm 124:2,5 ~ If it had not been the LORD who was on our side… then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Proverbs 4:11 ~ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

1 Samuel 11:13 ~ And Saul said… today the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.

Mark 6:50 ~ And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

If it were not for Jesus Christ,

We would have perished in the waves,

But Christ our Lord was sacrificed

To rescue sinners that He saves.

Salvation had a single path

Whereby our ransom could be paid:

Christ died to rescue us from wrath

And rose to say “Be not afraid.”

Refuge Restored

Read:  Psalm 123 / Proverbs 3 / 1 Samuel 10 / Mark 5

Psalm 123:1,4 ~ Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens… Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning… and with the contempt of the proud.

Proverbs 3:7 ~ Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

1 Samuel 10:9 ~ And it was so… God gave him another heart.

Mark 5:15 ~ See him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind.

Amid such contemptible hate,

My Savior was scorned and was killed.

His love, nonetheless, was so great,

With which He was wondrously filled.

I lift up my eyes to my Savior,

So loving, so faithful, so kind!

My refuge is found in His favor,

Restoring my heart, soul, and mind.
