Comfort of Christ's Coming

Read:  Psalm 112 / Proverbs 31 / Leviticus 17 / 1 Thes. 4

 

Psalm 112:4 ~ Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness. 

Proverbs 31:25 ~ Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 

Leviticus 17:11 ~ For the life of the flesh is in the blood... it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

1 Thessalonians 4:17,18 ~ We... shall be caught up together with them in the clouds... and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

 

The coming of Jesus draws near;

We wait for the archangel's voice 

When Christ in the air shall appear,

And we shall forever rejoice. 

 

How great is the comfort Christ gives

To all His redeemed in His care! 

Rejoice, for our Lord Jesus lives;

We’ll meet Him again in the air! 

 

 

Astonishing Atonement!

Read:  Psalm 111 / Proverbs 30 / Leviticus 16 / 1 Thess. 3

 

Psalm 111:2,9 ~ The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein... He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and reverend is his name.

Proverbs 30:4-5 ~ Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Leviticus 16:30 ~ On that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

1 Thessalonians 3:13 ~ To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

 

The works of God are truly great,

Delighting all who search therein. 

He saw us in our lost estate

And came to rescue us from sin! 

 

Astonishing atonement seen!  

We are declared unblameable! 

His precious blood has made us clean

And paid redemption's price in full!  

 

Mercy of Melchizedek

Read:  Psalm 110 / Proverbs 29 / Leviticus 15 / 1 Thess. 2

 

Psalm 110:3,4 ~ Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power... The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

Proverbs 29:25 ~ The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Leviticus 15:31 ~ Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 ~ As we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

 

Melchizedek, a king and priest,

Foreshadowed Christ victorious,

Whose saving power was released

When Jesus gave His life for us.  

 

This is the mercy God imparts! 

This is the Gospel we proclaim

To please the Lord who tries our hearts

As we exalt our Savior’s name. 

 

Almighty Advocate

Read:  Psalm 109 / Proverbs 28 / Leviticus 14 / 1 Thess. 1

 

Psalm 109:30-31 ~ I will greatly praise the LORD...  For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul. 

Proverbs 28:13 ~ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Leviticus 14:2 ~ This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest:

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 ~ Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

 

I’ll praise the Lord forevermore

Who saved my soul from condemnation. 

He saw me helpless, hopeless, poor

And rescued me with His salvation. 

 

My Advocate from heaven came;

As Man He suffered in my stead. 

He died and rose to purge my shame;

He'll come again as He has said. 

 

Fixed and Focused

Read:  Psalm 108 / Proverbs 27 / Leviticus 13 / Colossians 4

 

Psalm 108:1 ~O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

Proverbs 27:11 ~ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Leviticus 13:44 ~ He is a leprous man, he is unclean: the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head.

Colossians 4:5,17 ~ Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time... Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it.

 

There is no time for hesitation;

I dare not waste another minute.

My heart is fixed with dedication;

As God gives time, I'll serve Him in it. 

 

I once was leprous in my sin;

The plague was in my heart and head,

But now my Savior reigns within;

I'm focused on His will instead. 

 

Love of the Lamb

Read:  Psalm 107 / Proverbs 26 / Leviticus 12 / Colossians 3

 

Psalm 107:2 ~ Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; 

Proverbs 26:2 ~ The curse causeless shall not come. 

Leviticus 12:2,8 ~ If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child... If she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles... for a sin offering... and she shall be clean. 

Colossians 3:1,2 ~ If ye then be risen with Christ... Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

 

Our great Redeemer Jesus Christ

To save our souls, for us was cursed.

God’s spotless Lamb was sacrificed;

We love our Lord who loved us first. 

 

Born of a virgin, Jesus came,

Compelled by His unbounded love,  

To purge away our sin and shame

That we might dwell with Him above.  

 

Walking without Wavering

Read:  Psalm 106 / Proverbs 25 / Leviticus 11 / Colossians 2

 

Psalm 106:12-13 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise. They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel.

Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

Leviticus 11:45 I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of...  Egypt, to be your God...  therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Colossians 2:6-7 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him... stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

 

The people rescued from oppression

Believed God's Word and sang His praise,

But soon they wavered in transgression

And were not walking in His ways. 

 

Unfaithful as a broken tooth,

They turned away when they had lusted. 

Let us not waver from the truth,

But follow Christ whom we have trusted. 

Principle of His Preeminence

Read:  Psalm 105 / Proverbs 24 / Leviticus 10 / Colossians 1

 

Psalm 105:40 ~ The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

Proverbs 24:27 ~ Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Leviticus 10:1-3 ~ And Nadab and Abihu... offered strange fire before the LORD...  and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh Me.

Colossians 1:18 ~ And he is the head of the body, the church...  that in all things he might have the preeminence.

 

The people in the desert asked

For momentary meat that fails. 

Their wrong desire was unmasked

When they were sickened by the quails. 

 

As Nadab and Abihu learned,

The Lord will have preeminence.

This principle cannot be spurned

Without a dreadful consequence. 

 

Merciful Meditation

Read:  Psalm 104 / Proverbs 23 / Leviticus 9 / Philippians 4

 

Psalm 104:33,34 ~ I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Proverbs 23:26 ~ My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Leviticus 9:4,5 ~ Today the LORD will appear unto you... and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.

Philippians 4:6,7 ~ Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

 

How merciful is meditation

That finds us low at Jesus' feet

To contemplate His great salvation,

And rest in perfect peace so sweet. 

 

How comforting is confidence

That Jesus Christ will not depart! 

The Lord Himself is our Defense

To whom we rightly give our heart. 

 

Beautiful Benefits

Read:  Psalm 103 / Proverbs 22 / Leviticus 8 / Philippians 3

 

Psalm 103:2 ~ Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Proverbs 22:3 ~ A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.  

Leviticus 8:12 ~ And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

Philippians 3:7 ~ But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

 

The benefits are beautiful

That God has given by His grace

To rescue and redeem our soul,

Providing us a Hiding Place. 

 

The beauty of our great High Priest

Was seen when He was on the cross. 

Let His dominion be increased

And other things be counted loss.  

 

Sacrificial Savior

Read:  Psalm 102 / Proverbs 21 / Leviticus 7 / Philippians 2

 

Psalm 102:19-20 ` From heaven did the LORD behold the earth; To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;  

Proverbs 21:31 ~ The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

Leviticus 7:37 ~ This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering...  and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings;

Philippians 2:5,8 ~ Christ Jesus... humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

 

From heaven's high majestic throne

The Lord looked down from heaven's height. 

He heard the captive's helpless groan

And came to save them from their plight. 

 

The sacrifices offered up

Depicted Christ our Lord who came

To drink our judgment's bitter cup

When on the cross He bore our shame.  

 

 

Cleared House, Clean Heart

Read:  Psalm 101 / Proverbs 20 / Leviticus 6 / Philippians 1

 

Psalm 101:1-3 ~ I will sing of mercy and judgment... O LORD... within my house ... I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.

Proverbs 20:9 ~ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Leviticus 6:13 ~ The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

Philippians 1:21 ~ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

 

Why should I let a wicked thing

Within my house before my eyes? 

Should not I rather praise my King 

Within a heart He sanctifies? 

 

I am His temple, am I not? 

The Lord has surely made that plain! 

To live is Christ; this is my lot.

Since this is so, to die is gain.  

 

Insane Instructors

Read:  Psalm 100 / Proverbs 19 / Leviticus 5 / Ephesians 6

 

Psalm 100:3 ~ Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Proverbs 19:27 ~ Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Leviticus 5:17,19 ~ If a soul sin... he hath certainly trespassed against the LORD.

Ephesians 6:11 ~ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

 

Though it is surely obvious

That He who made us must be God,  

Instructors still are telling us

We made ourselves!  Is not that odd? 

 

Not only odd, it is insane! 

It is the devil's dark seduction!

The truth that saves us from destruction.
