Trust and Tell

Read:  Psalm 11 / Proverbs 31 / Job 19 / Revelation 4

 

Psalm 11:1 ~ In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

Proverbs 31:8 ~ Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Job 19:25 ~ For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.

Revelation 4:1 ~ After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice… said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

 

In God alone I put my trust:

Why should I flee, then, as a bird?

I’m called to tell, and tell I must,

The Gospel truth that I have heard.

 

I know that my Redeemer lives

And that He’ll come again to reign.

I will redeem the time He gives

To make His Gospel message plain.

Humble Hearts

Read:  Psalm 10 / Proverbs 30 / Job 18 / Revelation 3

 

Psalm 10:17 ~ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear.

Proverbs 30:5 ~ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Job 18:18,21 ~ He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world... this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

Revelation 3:20 ~ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

 

The Lord inclines His ear to hear

The cry of humble hearts He’s drawn

To call on Him while He is near

When every other hope is gone. 

 

His light is shining in this place,

Which some have chosen to ignore,

Yet still the Lord extends His grace:

Behold, He’s standing at the door!

Still Stronger

Read:  Psalm 9 / Proverbs 29 / Job 17 / Revelation 2

 

Psalm 9:10 ~ And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Proverbs 29:25 ~ The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Job 17:8 ~ The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Revelation 2:4 ~ Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

 

All those who know Christ’s reputation

And call upon His precious name

Shall find their refuge in salvation,

A hiding place from sin and shame.

 

Now as we look at Christ above

Who blesses us who once were cursed,

Should not our hearts yet burn with love

Which grows still stronger than at first?

Christ is Crowned

Read:  Psalm 8 / Proverbs 28 / Job 16 / Revelation 1

 

Psalm 8:5 ~ For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

Proverbs 28:5 ~ Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Job 16:10 ~ They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

Revelation 1:5 ~ Jesus Christ… the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth...  loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

 

Christ set aside His outward splendor

To thus accomplish our salvation.

He came to die as our Defender

And now is crowned with exaltation.

 

Behold the Lamb for sinners smitten,

The First Begotten from the dead!

He purged our sins, as it was written,

When He was wounded in our stead.

Consolations of Christ

Read:  Psalm 7 / Proverbs 27 / Job 15 / Jude 24,25

 

Psalm 7:10 ~ My defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

Proverbs 27:12 ~ A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Job 15:11 ~ Are the consolations of God small with thee?

Jude 24,25 ~ Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

 

How great the consolations are

From God who is our Hiding Place!

We know the Lord is never far

From those who humbly seek His face. 

 

These consolations are not small

That Christ so graciously extends,

For Jesus bore the sins of all,

And those who trust Him, He defends.

Truth for the Troubled

Read:  Psalm 6 / Proverbs 26 / Job 14 / 3 John

 

Psalm 6:8 ~ Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.

Proverbs 26:27 ~ Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Job 14:1,4 ~ Man that is born of a woman is… full of trouble. Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

3 John 4 ~ I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

 

The Lord has heard the sinner’s prayer

Who weeps with humble lamentation.

He lifts him from his dreadful snare

And rescues him with His salvation. 

 

Since man is troubled from his youth,

There is no hope without the Savior.

How gracious is the Gospel truth

That promises His saving favor!

Face to Face

Read:  Psalm 5 / Proverbs 25 / Job 13 / 2 John

 

Psalm 5:3.8 ~ My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up… Lead me… LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

Proverbs 25:12 ~ As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

Job 13:3 ~ Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

2 John 12 ~ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

 

There is a two-way conversation

As I lift up my prayer each day

And as the Lord of my salvation

Communes with me along the way. 

 

The Lord instructs me in each season

And leads me forth with truth and grace

By wise reproof and perfect reason

Until I see Him face to face.

Stand Still

Read:  Psalm 4 / Proverbs 24 / Job 12 / 1 John 5

 

Psalm 4:4 ~ Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Proverbs 24:32 ~ Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Job 12:9,11 ~Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?... Doth not the ear try words?

1 John 5:20 ~ And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true… This is the true God, and eternal life.

 

Let us be still and stand in awe

As we consider very well

The price that Jesus Christ foresaw 

Which would deliver us from hell.

 

Let us consider in creation

His handiwork so wonderful

And stand amazed at His salvation

That satisfies and saves our soul.

Lifted by Love

Psalm 3:3 ~ But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Proverbs 23:26 ~ My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Job 11:13-15 ~ If thou prepare thine heart… then shalt thou lift up thy face… thou shalt be steadfast, and shalt not fear.

1 John 4:19 ~ We love him, because he first loved us.

 

The Lord has lifted up my face,

Though sin would bow my head in shame.

He rescued me with truth and grace,

And now I live to praise His name. 

 

All those who will prepare their heart

And set their hope on things above

Shall find the joy God will impart

As they explore His wondrous love.

Where is the Wisdom?

Read:  Psalm 2 / Proverbs 22 / Job 10 / 1 John 3

 

Psalm 2:1,10 ~ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?... Be wise now therefore, O ye kings.

 Proverbs 22:20,21 ~ Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Job 10:15 ~ If I be wicked, woe… I am full of confusion.

1 John 3:1 ~ Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

 

Why is it that the nations rage?

Where is the wisdom of such kings?

Have not they seen the Scripture’s page

Where God declared prophetic things?

 

There is no reason for confusion,

In view of what the Lord foretold.

This is our obvious conclusion

As we declare what we behold.

Humble vs. Hardened

Read:  Psalm 1 / Proverbs 21 / Job 9 / 1 John 2 

 

Psalm 1:6 ~ For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Proverbs 21:29 ~ A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

Job 9:4 ~ Who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?

1 John 2:1,2 ~ If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous… the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the… the whole world.

 

Behold the way that God will bless

The sinners who are pardoned:

He clothes them in His righteousness

When hearts are humble and not hardened!

 

Praise God!  We have an Advocate

In Christ by His propitiation! 

How gracious and compassionate

Our Savior is to every nation!

Cleansing by Christ

Read:  Psalm 150 / Proverbs 20 / Job 8 / 1 John 1

 

Psalm 150:6 ~ Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Proverbs 20:9 ~ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Job 8:5,6 ~ If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty… now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

1 John 1:9 ~ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and… cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

 

Praise God with every breath He gives,

For He alone has made us clean

Since Jesus died and ever lives

To intercede and intervene! 

 

Though now a stain of sin may rise,

Christ draws us with the inclination

To come before His holy eyes

And find His cleansing restoration.

Grow in Grace

Psalm 149:4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Proverbs 19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Job 7:1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth?

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

 

The Lord takes pleasure in His own

And beautifies them with salvation.

He makes His counsel clearly known

With wisdom for each situation.

 

Our days on earth are very few

So let us not be weary now,

But grow in grace and knowledge too

Till every knee to Christ shall bow.
